FEBRUARY GOLF IN SUNNY ARIZONA

The Partnership Triad began on February 19 and continued for two more days on the 24th and 26th. Suzanne Boyer and Sandy Camp were the winners last year and as tradition has it, they were the tournament chairs this year.

We started on the Heritage course, low net of the twosome, then the Gold was a two person scramble and last the Patriot was a quota contest. Players enjoyed the new format on the Gold.

Grand Champions were Ro McVety & Michele Schuck, Congratulations!

2015 JANUARY

TOURNAMENT COORDINATORS FOR JANUARY ARE Di Carter and Ann Polumbus. Two dedicated, committed WWGA members. And there are many more in this blog.

The Valley Team traveled to Pinnacle Peak on the 5th of January and to Tatum Ranch on the 2 of February--only two matches left and more pictures to come. The WWGA members enjoyed  'Three Little Pigs', a tournament on the Patriot course on the 8th. Then on the 15th, Stableford, again on the Patriot.

But the fun really began in the Partnership Eclectic, held on the Heritage course on January 22 and 29. MARGARET PRICE AND DEE PEREZ, last year's winners organized and executed this popular event. Won this year by Sandy Camp and Beth Maynard.  Congratulations ladies, good rounds of golf with a low score of 57!

Wigwam Team Holiday Gathering

Your Wigwam Women's Traveling Golf Team has competed in three events this year. The team has been to Papago golf club, Paradise Valley Country Club and most recently to Alta Mesa Golf Club. Beautiful courses and delightful opponents at all three matches. While we are not real high up on the winners board now, we hope we can show them what Wigwam Women Golfers are made of during the next 5 matches.

Girls gotta have fun so Ro McVety and Jan Boggs organized a 9 hole golf event on the Heritage course on December 16th. We played a flag event of sorts. Each golfer received a wand with a Christmas Tree ornament attached to plant when they reached the number of strokes on their handicap. It was a lovely afternoon.

After the golf, Nineteen team members gathered at Ro McVety's lovely home and enjoyed appetizers and dinner with a few spirits to lighten the mood. Then the gift exchange. Everyone present took home a gift but the big surprize was a fresh pine center piece Deb Smith made for each member present. Ro and Jan are the ultimate party organizers and the team members sure appreciated their efforts in creating a very happy holiday evening.

Kristi Oberbillig Won on the Golf course.

Past President's Luncheon

What a wonderful annual tradition....The past president's luncheon!

So you served your time, did your best, hope you kept most members happy as well as your board.  Then the year ends, someone else is elected President. You have mixed feelings, yes it was fun to be involved with a great group of golfers but time to move on to other things.  Six months later you get invited to become part of an exclusive group -- PAST PRESIDENTS.

Tynette DeSino, Carol Thomas, Ro McVety, Liz Nelson, Donnie Chrispell, JoAnn Dun

Donnie holding court!
Each year the past presidents join together for a golf tournament followed by a lovely lunch. This year Donnie hosted a gift exchange of sorts. Each past president brought an odd prize they had received at a golf tournament to exchange. Then the fun began. In the end what was not wanted was donated to a worthy cause. Each member present received a note pad engraved with the Wigwam and date.

What a nice gathering to have at Christmas time! Maybe next year you will be invited to join this exclusive group and become president of the WWGA.

GOODBYE JUSTIN, WELCOME MIKE

The women golfers of the Wigwam bid Justin a fond farewell at the end of October, as he leaves the Wigwam to assume the Head Professional duties at the Biltmore Golf Resort. Mike Wegner is taking over for Justin and we are happy that Justin has left our tournament organization in good hands.

Justin Creighton has been a strong supporter of the Women's golf program at the Wigwam and we will miss him. However, he has an opportunity to expand his horizons at the Biltmore.

Bon Chance, to our friend, Justin.

Mike & Justin
